Star Centos

Digital Projection and Performance (2015)

My Roles

Design, Writing

Star Centos was a virtual tour of the stars in accompaniment with centos written and performed by poets Keith S. Wilson and Cristina Correa. In collaboration with the Adler Planetarium, projections of the constellations (Andromeda, Cygnus, Medusa, and Orion) were projected in 360° on the Grainger Sky Theatre visualization dome. Further images for the projection were chosen from Adler Planetarium Collections.

The digital presentation/performance was created for Ekphest, a festival in celebration of ekphrastic art (art in response to other art forms) in partnership between nationally recognized Chicago poets and a number of participating Chicago museums and institutions.

A scan of a very old-looking book. A man in red robes and golden boots is holding a sword. His left hand holds a sword, and his right arm is extended and appears to have a lion pelt draped over it. He faces away from the viewer, reaching up with his sword arm. Stars are drawn throughout the image on a light blue background.
