My Roles

Game Design

The Source was an alternate reality game created by Ci3’s Game Changer Chicago Design Lab at the University of Chicago in conjunction with the Chicago summer of Learning. The game utilized social media, text messages, voice mails and a number of other transmedia techniques in order to team STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) topics. The Source had teens follow a series of narrative vlog entries of Adia, a 17-year-old African American girl living in Chicago's Southside.

140 Students participated in civic-focused puzzles initiated by Adia over a series of weeks. Players completed online challenges to help Adia, who is unable to leave her house after school due to her busy schedule. Activities included code-breaking challenges, board games, and media production.
